The Open Stage project includes free dance presentations
in special areas, set up in squares, factories and shopping
centers, among other places. The idea is to provide
dance groups with an opportunity for greater interaction
with the public, as well as to take the event into the
community and build up audiences.
1st Article - Selection
In order to enroll and participate in the Open Stages
of the Joinville Dance Festival, candidates must undergo
a prior selection process, in accordance with the following
specifications.
A) To participate in the selection, groups must
send the following material to the Joinville Dance Festival
Institute, via courier, by 18 April 2006 (proof of posting
according to date on stamp):
- Copy of CNPJ (General Taxpayers Register) card, for
schools or dance academies, or Term of Independent Group,
for groups not linked to dance schools or academies.
- Notarized photocopy of ID card, Passport or Driver's
License of each group member. It must be emphasized
that the JDFI will only accept the above mentioned documents
as proof of identity.
- Document corroborating release by the choreographer,
issued by SBAT or by the choreographer him/herself.
- Recording of choreography (in DVD or video tape -
VHS, NTSC system).
Important: Choreographies enrolled in different classes,
sub classes and categories must be separate (note enrollment
limits, according to following observations).
Examples:
Tape 1 - Classical Ballet - Group - maximum of 3 choreographies
Tape 2 - Classical Ballet - Male Solo - maximum of 3
choreographies
Tape 3 - Classical Ballet - Female Solo - maximum of
3 choreographies
Tape 4 - Classical Ballet - Duet - maximum of 3 choreographies
Tape 5 - Classical Ballet - Trio - maximum of 3 choreographies
The above example applies to all other classes and sub
classes.
Note
- Each school/academy can enroll up to 3 different groups,
with each group being able to enroll a total of 10 works
for each selection, respecting the limit of up to 3
choreographies per class/sub-class;
- Independent groups (those not linked to dance schools/academies)
can enroll up to 10 works for the selection, respecting
the limit of up to 3 choreographies per class/sub-class;
- In the selection, up to 3 choreographies per group
can be approved for participating in the festival, including
all classes/categories;
- Verification of all documentation, including that
of the participants, will be performed during the selection
process;
- Concerning participant enrollments, the names and
ages of all dancers must be listed, with the group being
permitted four additional members, to be chosen between:
director, coordinator (who must have completed 18 years
of age by the beginning of the event) and choreographer
or rehearser;
- Dancers can participate in costume for the tape/DVD,
with the exception of classical Ballet and Classical
Repertoire Ballet choreographies, when rehearsal clothes
are recommended;
- Choreographies enrolled in the selection cannot be
altered for the event presentation, and nor will alterations
to the name of the choreography, time or music be accepted.
Disqualification criteria
Any groups/schools sending their works/choreographies
with the following problems will be considered DISQUALIFIED:
- Incomplete enrollment form;
- Lack of any group or group member document;
- Postage date exceeding stipulated date;
- Tape not rewound;
- Video/DVD without identification, with technical sound
problems, or containing other images such as parties,
films, soap operas etc.;
- Recordings done in parts, in more than one locality,
or with any type of assembly/editing;
- Lack of author identification concerning the choreographical
reassembly/version of Classical Repertoire Ballets;
- Incomplete choreographies
Enrollment of more choreographies than the number stimulated
in these regulations (see above observations)
Criteria for Selection assessment
Classical Repertoire Ballet
- Artistic and technical quality of the performers
- Adaptation of the chosen pieces for the dancers
- Faithfulness to the proposed version
Other classes
- Artistic and technical quality of the performers
- Structure of the choreographic composition
- Adequate development of the proposed theme
Selection Result
The selection result will be divulged within 45 days
following selection enrollment deadline, on the Festival
site, and sent to press channels.
Observations
- No results will be given over the telephone.
- Judges do not issue written commentaries on the choreographies
enrolled in the selection.
Important: the material sent for selection will not
be returned.
2nd Article - Enrollment
The groups approved in the selection must confirm their
enrollment in the event by10/06/2006.
Single paragraph: All groups approved in the Joinville
Dance Festival and Half Point are also eligible to participate
in the 2006Open Stages. In these cases the groups are
only required to fill out the Open Stage enrollment
form for the Coordinating Committee, with no further
documentation being required.
Once enrollment had been confirmed, the group must send
the following items to the Dance Festival Institute:
- 1 (one) 3x4 photo (dated same year as the event) of
each member, with the name in block letters on the back,
for the ID tag;
- Copy of the enrollment form of each choreography enrolled
in the Competitive Presentation;
- A copy of a document proving that enrollment fee has
been paid.
Important
- Should there be an alteration to the cast in the submitted
tape, the group must give written notice of the change
made in any phase of the process, from the time of the
selection up to the group's presentation in the event.
- If the event's Coordinating committee is not informed
of this, the group will be barred from presenting;
- Cast alterations can only occur in group choreographies
(involving a maximum of 10% of the cast), and are not
permitted in Variations, Pas-de-Deux, Grand Pas-de-Deux,
Pas-de-Trois, solos, duets and trios;
- Participants cannot perform in different groups.
Enrollment fee
The value of the enrollment fee is R$ 40.00 (forty reals)
per participant in each enrolled group, including coordinator,
director, choreographer or rehearser.
3rd Article - Classes
Enrollments will be divided according to classes: Classical
Repertoire Ballet, Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance,
Jazz, Street Dance, Popular Dances and Tap Dance.
4th Article - Category
No one who was born later that 1996 may participate
in the Open Stage performances.
Technical information
1 - Maximum number of dancers on Open Stage:
30.
2 - The group must state what type of stage props
it will be using in the presentation on the selection
enrollment form, with the following items not being
permitted:
- children born in 1997 or later
- any live animal
- Water and fire and objects that could jeopardize or
damage the stage or reach the audience.
Should the group use any item in its performance without
prior notification, the group will be automatically
DISQUALIFIED.
3 - Participants must bring a CD or an MD for
each piece of music.
4 - At the time of confirming enrollment (following
the selection) the group must give its availability
for performances on the Outside Stages.
5 - The group must program at least five presentations,
with locations being decided by the Coordinating Committee.
6 - Costumes must be used for all presentation.
7 - In order to receive a certificate of participation,
the group must fulfill at least 75% of the programmed
presentations and adhere to the established timetables.
8 - For presentations in squares, Dance Slipper
Fair and shopping centers, the group must present itself
to the producer, at the presentation site, 30 minutes
before performance time - the group being responsible
for its own transport.
9 - For presentations in companies, suburbs and
other places, the group must present itself to the Outside
Stage team (office), one hour before the programmed
time - the group's transport being the responsibility
of the Coordinating Committee.
10 - For presentations in other cities, the group
must present itself to the Outside Stage team (office),
one and a half hours before the programmed time - the
group's transport being the responsibility of the Coordinating
Committee.
11 - The Coordinating Committee is not responsible
for objects left in the dressing rooms.
12 - Images of the groups participating in the
Half Point may be used by the event Coordinating Committee
to advertise the Festival.
Executive activities
1 - Reception
Participants will be received at the Secretary's office,
inside the Centreventos Cau Hansen, from 19 July onwards,
between 8 am and 8 pm (office hours throughout event).
2 - Name Tags
Each event participant will receive a personalized name
tag, for personal use, which is non transferable and
must be worn at all times, and which, under no circumstances
whatsoever, may be used by third parties, the penalty
for which will be confiscation by Coordinating Committee.
Access to lodgings and the group's presentation will
not be permitted without an name tag. The participant's
name tag does not include free access to spectacles
except on the days of the participant's competitive
presentations. The Coordination Committee does not replace
lost or stolen name tags.
3 - Certificates
Each event participant in the Outside Stage performances
will receive a certificate of participation. Outside
Stage group participants will only receive certificates
after completing their program obligations.
4 - Tickets for participants
- Participants must acquire tickets to be admitted to
event spectacles;
- The Festival Coordination Committee will provide special
tickets in the stalls - for event participants for the
Competitive Presentation of the Joinville Dance Festival.
Tickets will be on sale (through the event site or telesales
services), for participants only, from 26th to 30th
June 2006. Ticket sales for the general public commence
on 3rd July.
- Tickets will be available for the general public commencing
on 1st July.
- Detailed information concerning ticket sales will
be available on the site www.festivaldedanca.com.br,
from May 2006 onwards.
Important
- Those buying differentiated tickets must present their
participant ID tag together with their ticket at the
entrance to the spectacle.
5 - Exceptions
Any exceptions to these regulations will be resolved
by the JDFI Coordinating Committee.
