Joinville Dance Festival Institute
The purpose of the Joinville Dance Festival, created in
1999, is to administer and conduct the Joinville Dance
Festival.
Within this structure are two Councils - the Deliberative
and the Artistic - as well as an Executive Coordinating
Committee. Headquartered at the Centreventos Cau Hansen,
the Institute has a trim physical structure. As the event
draws near, professionals are hired on a temporary basis
to meet demands as required.
Deliberative Council
This council is responsible for analyzing and approving
suggestions from the Artistic Council and Executive Coordinating
Committee. It consists of the president and board of directors
of the Joinville Cultural Foundation.

Executive Coordinating Committee
This committee is responsible for organizing and managing
the festival, which includes arranging resources and overall
management of the event, including the supervision of
the divulgence, production and artistic areas.

Artistic Council
Consisting of national and internationally recognized
dance professionals, the main objective of the Artistic
Council is to offer suggestions that contribute to the
technical and artistic formation of the event - indicating
the names of guest groups, teachers and judges -, in addition
to helping in the preparation of the regulations, the
level of the courses and the structuring of the Competitive
Presentation night. Each professional serves on the Council
for a period of 2 years and every year two names are renewed,
thus refreshing the structure of the event with a productive
debate on future Festivals.

Ballerina
and dance critic from the O Globo newspaper, Silvia
Soter is a master of theater, a Dance graduate from
the University of Paris, in addition to being an
Arts graduate. She teaches the UniverCidade Dance
course and acts as dramatist for the Lia Rodrigues
Dance Company. She was one of the founder ballerinas
of Carlota Portella's Vacilou Dançou. In
the mid 80s, Silvia started migrating to the area
of somatic education, in which the effect of movement
on the human body is studied and researched. She
is also a teacher of Holistic Gymnastics - the Ehrenfried
method - and is a member of the Rio Dance Study

Suzana Braga
is a specialized dance journalist and critic. She
has worked in the profession since 1975, publishing
around 4,000 texts (including critics and interviews)
on the subject in important newspapers both in Brazil
and abroad. She has written a variety of didactic
works on the art of dance for publishers, faculties
and universities. Other activities include that
of ballerina with the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater
and teacher in the Tatiana Leskova Academy, Tablado
Theater, Nucleus of Contemporary Dance, Advanced
School of Advertising and Marketing and the Balé
Stagium (SP). She acted as the artistic coordinator
and production director of the Rio de Janeiro Contemporary
ballet for the "Canção da Terra"
e "Quintana" productions and directed
the Guaíra Ballet Theater (PR), from 1999
to 2003. |

A Letters
graduate, Carlota opted for dance early on in her
life. She began this art at the age of six, studying
classical ballet. As an adult she lived in Paris,
where she discovered jazz, which became her passion.
In 1981 formed the Vacilou, Dançou professional
dance company, responsible for many successes presented
in Brazil and abroad. That same year she founded
her own school, Jazz Carlota Portella, which is
headquartered in Rio de Janeiro and is considered
one of the best dance schools not only in Rio de
Janeiro but in the whole of Brazil. |

With a 22
year career in the área of American tap dance,
Kika Sampaio is the only representative of the "Kahnnotation"
tap dance teaching method in Brazil. Owner of the
Kika Tap Center school, founded in 1982, in São
Paulo, her baggage includes a solid formation in
classical, modern, flamenco and tap dance, with
courses in Brazil and abroad. Her CV outlines not
only her participation in the most important dance
spectacles held in the country but also her ability
as a producer. |
