| The Festival |

The 2006 version of the 24th Joinville Dance Festival
opens in Joinville. This gathering is one of the most
complete events of its type in Brazil and Latin America,
bringing together a variety of dance features. Concerning
the Competitive Presentation, in addition to evaluating
and judging, the Artistic Coordinating Committee have
promoted meetings with the participants on the morning
following the presentation to show the choreographers
and dancers the positive points of their performance and
to offer constructive criticism on what could be improved.
A positive example of this initiative is in the Jazz class,
which exceeded all expectations, and this was considered
the greatest surprise of the event for the quality of
the works presented at the 2005 Festival.
The educational aspect is also a highlight, whether with
courses and workshops for improving the professional,
or with the concern of providing outstanding performances
for the special nights - Opening and Gala - such as Coppelia,
in 2004, with the Colón Theater Ballet, or the
differentiated Mazowsze National Ballet of Poland, in
2005, considered one of the best folkloric groups in the
world.
Maintained through the support of sponsors and promoted
by the Joinville Dance Festival Institute, the event draws
entries from around four thousand dancers and attracts
a public of over 200 thousand people, making it the Greatest
Dance Festival in the World, according to the 2005 edition
of the Guinness Book of Records.
