Known for its dynamic exploration of the body's motor
possibilities, the Parsons Dance Company is the highlight
of the 24th Joinville Dance Festival's Gala Night, at
the Centreventos Cau Hansen, on 25th July, starting at
20:00. The work, hailed by dance critics for its vigor
and the athletic preparation of the dancers, in addition
to the choreographies, thrills the public with its lively
music and witty humor.
Founded in 1987, by dancer and choreographer David Parsons
and by lighting expert Howell Binkley, the Parsons Dance
Company is constantly on tour. One of the company's works,
which is in alignment with the aim of the Festival, is
that of promoting education. The mission of the Parsons
Dance Company is to make modern dance accessible to all
people. The company is known for its internships and courses
which foster, in addition to demonstration classes, conferences
and workshops for people of all ages.
For its presentation in Joinville, the company will perform
choreographies selected from famous spectacles. Overall,
there are more than 70 works, with 20 of them having music
specially composed for the choreographies. Music by Milton
Nascimento hás also inspired the companies work,
paying tribute to the Brazilian composer on its site (www.parsonsdance.org).
