19 to 29 July 2006 |
| Opening Night |
 |
The first night of the Joinville Dance Festival brings
spectacles to the Centreventos Cau Hansen stage that standout
for their technical and artistic quality. This year's
spectacle will present the "The Creation" by
the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater Ballet, choreographed
by Uwe Scholz and performed to the music of Austrian composer
Franz Josep Haydn, on 19th July, at 20:00.
The choreography depicts the creation of the world, involving
and thrilling the public with two hours of beauty and
intensity. For the Festival, the ensemble will include
the corps de ballet, soloists and the main dancers from
the cast, in addition to the complete production. The
ensemble is considered a milestone for European neoclassical
choreography and was performed for the first time outside
Europe by the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theater Ballet.
It was presented in Brazil for the first time last September
and remains a highlight in the 2006 season.
The ballet recounts the seven days in which the universe
was created according to the bible, to the music of the
universally renowned "The Creation", composed
in 1799 by Haydn.
This is the second time that the Rio de Janeiro Municipal
Theater Ballet has presented a full spectacle to the public
at the Joinville Dance Festival. The first time was in
1999, with the ballet Giselle. |
