Responsible for a great part of the outflow of the dance school
productions in Brazil, the Joinville
Dance Festival has become the biggest competition for dance
students in Latin America, and involves both
amateur and professional dancers.Held every year in the second
fortnight of July, the event attracts
around 4 thousand participants and draws crowds of around 50
thousand people, to watch the shows
performed at the Centreventos
Cau Hansen. During the 11 nights of the Festival, invited companies
and competing groups come onto the stage at the Centreventos
Cau Hansen, to present works enrolled in seven modalities -
Classical Repertoire Ballet, Classical Ballet, Contemporary
Dance, Jazz, Street Dance, Popular Dance and Tap-dancing -,
and 3 subdivision categories: junior, senior and advanced.

During the Festival various events are conducted such
as the Half Point Festival, for children from 10 to
12 years, the Contemporary Dance Exhibition, for professional
companies, presentation on Alternative
Stages, mounted in city squares, shopping centers and
companies, in addition to a comprehensive program
of Courses, Lectures and Workshops.
Promoted by the Joinville Dance Festival Institute,
the event is supported by funds collected from sponsors
together with its own resources, which mainly consists
of the money collected from the box office.

Mission
- To promote the interchange between dance professionals
and students;
- To enable the discussion of themes relevant for the
growth of the sector;
- To stimulate the technical development of the participants;
- To help produce new dancers and to reveal talent;
- To promote dance as an artistic option; - To encourage
art among youth.
