- ENROLLMENT FORM FOR ALTERNATIVE STAGE SELECTION

Presentation

On reaching 20 years, The Festival innovates and strengthens its organizationIn 2002 the Joinville Dance Festival completes 20 years. This is a significant date for an event which was not expected to to amount to
a great deal, but nevertheless suffered many changes, got some things right, went wrong with others, grew, matured and continued seeking new ways.As a result of this effort we present the new Regulations for the Joinville Dance Festival. More complete with more details, they not only include the rules for the 20th Dance Festival and the 3rd Half Point Festival but information about the 2nd Contemporary Dance Exhibition and the new proposal for presentation on Alternative Stages. The following is a brief summary of the main changes and new additions to the Festival in 2002.

20th Dance Festival and 3rd Half Point Festival
1 - For the selection of tapes for these two events, it is important to point out that an authenticated
photocopy of the identity documents of all group members will have to be presented. This will enable Coordination to have a better control, particularly concerning the enrollment of a group in the correct
category.
2 - Another addition is the use of internet as a channel of commmunication by the Institute and the participating groups, which will be used for sending selection results as well as announcing other information about the event.
3 - The value of the Enrollement fee for the Festival in 2002 has been reduced from R$ 40,00 to R$ 35,00.
The reason for this reduction is because, at the next Festival, the participants will have to purchase a special ticket at the price of R$ 2.00, which will have to be presented together with the participant's name tag for admittance to the opening gala, the competitions as well as closing night. This change will also result in a reduction in price for special nights (opening and gala), which in 2001 was purchased with a 50% discount i.e. the ticket cost R$ 5,00, but in 2002 it will only cost R$ 2,00. The new system will also inhibit the selling of tickets on the black market and will not leave empy spaces in the theater as was the case in 2001, when
many places reserved by the participants were not occupied, making it impossible for other people to watch
the presentations. The special tickets for paticipants will be on sale from July 1st 2002 by the Festival's telesales service.
4 - The Popular Dance modality returns to the 20th Dance Festival, which includes the Ballroom and
Folk Dance modalities.
5 - In 2002 the categories will have a single age standard for each modality.

2nd Contemporaty Dance Exhibition

Following the success of the first one, the Exhibition gets more space and recognition at the Festival. The selection of groups for the next Exhibition adhers to the same deadlines (dates) as the Festival group participants. Through this, both Coordination and the groups benefit from the organization and functionality.

Alternative Stages

Festival Coordination will select certain venues in the city for administering official Alternative Stages,
which will have better infrastructure and technical resources for enabling the public to attend big, top
quality shows free of charge. In order for the groups to appear on these stages, they will have to
participate in a previous selection, similar to that of the Festival, in that the approved groups will have
the same rights as the other Festival participants, concerning name tag, discount tickets, accommodation etc. These are some of the relevant points in the new Regulations and they should be carefully read by
all those those participating, regardless of the extent, in the Festival. There are not many changes,
but they are significant ones, and we believe they will permit us to offer the participants and general
public an even better event, and one that will truly contribute to the growth of dancing.

Coordination

Joinville (SC), October 2001
